Contentment in life.

Hmm.sometimes I wonder, are money and success so important in our lives? People around us are often having these two material gains filled in their minds. Well, it's really hard not to think of money and success when the modern world are getting more and more competitive and everything just revolves around money and success. Some people even think that having succes and money are so called the 'ultimate' way to acheiving a good life. I mean I got to admit that it can be true to some extent and these things are important but definitely not the most important. In the past, I often had this thinking that "hmm I must definitely be rich and successful when I work next time.' But throughout these years, certain things made me realise that actually there are many other things which are even more important than material gains.

It's really hard to resist the temptations that money and success will bring but we have to remember that it is important that we are not controlled by these things. If not, these material gains will only draw you further and further away from God. Therefore, we really got to learn to be contented with what we have and to accept with thanksgiving for what we have now are all given by God. I was reading through the bible while on my way to work this morning.haha and came across 1 Timothy 6:7 - "For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it." and 6:8 - "But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that." and I especially think that 6:10 is very important where it mentioned "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs." I mean money and success can really cause alot of hurt and destruction to someone's life. I believe that all of you know these verses but we have to know for a fact that there will be a period of time in our life, that each one of us will face a situation where we are so bothered by money and success that we totally forget who we are and stray away from God (Very very bad).

Therefore I pray for all of you that no matter what happen in future, that neither of you will ever fall into the traps 'set' by these material gains. I also pray that each one of you will be contented with what you have and accept with thanksgiving. Most importantly, I pray that all of us will continue to place our hopes in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment (well this is once again taken from 1 Timothy 6:17) and not place our hopes in achieving an enjoyable life through wealth and success.

I do hope that what I have posted here make sense to everyone of you and that the verses I have taken as examples are applicable. Do correct me if I'm wrong yea? Haha.well anyway, hope you guys enjoy this post and do take care. God bless all of you. *Bible version is NIV.
